Jason the Designer
I am a web designer and graphic artist and I’m currently a resident of Connecticut. From May 2002 to January 2009 I worked in Customer Service for Big Y Foods, Inc., a local food company. Like employees of almost every company in today’s recession, I was laid off due to budget cuts.
However, I believe this happened for a reason. The reason you may ask? I can focus on my education. I have the time now to finish school and get my life on track for a great and positive future.
Design History
I’ve been working on web and graphic design since 2000. A majority of the skills and knowledge that I knew back then was all self-taught. Back in 2000 I purchased my own PC and purchased Jasc® Paint Shop Pro (now owned by Corel®), a graphic program that I knew a lot of people were using back in the day. I’ve come along way both graphically and web wise. I now use the Adobe® Creative Suite products for everything graphic and web design. Is there really anything else?
On December 20, 2007, I enrolled at Sessions, an online school that welcomes both novice and experienced designers, giving them the professional skills and techniques they need for successful careers in digital arts and design.
Before enrolling at Sessions the knowledge I had about web design was through online resources, books and a lot of trial and error. The resources I have are great but there is just something about sitting down, reading a detailed lecture and actually doing an assignment based on the lecture.
Initially I was majoring in their graphic design program but after completing two courses I realized I wanted to learn more web design. I switched to their web design program in February 2009. Even though I’m concentrating on web design, my love for graphic art hasn’t changed. It’s still something I plan on doing for as long as I can.

The origin of Studio Onyx was inspired by the definition of an Onyx, which is defined as…
A semiprecious variety of agate with different colors in layers.
This is similar to the technique used in graphic and web design.
